The DS4Skills Interactive Inventory, as one of DS4Skills’ key outcomes, aims to provide a comprehensive and structured overview of existing platforms, services, apps, emerging data spaces, and other initiatives in the skills data domain. It serves as an important communication tool for the DS4Skills project, as well as an asset to all members of the skills data ecosystem.

✅ What can be found on the inventory?
The inventory showcases to the general public and organizations interested in the skills data space, a set of curated initiatives that collect, store and share education and skills data, with a particular focus on platforms for skills for the green and digital transformations.
Via an online survey that was spread across DS4Skills’ networks and communication channels the existing initiatives have been gathered. On the list of existing initiatives that was the result of this survey, the DS4Skills’ project team performed desk research on the publicly available information about the initiatives. Existing initiatives on the inventory have been categorised and assessed to offer a comprehensive and descriptive overview based on the following criteria:
- General description
- Business model
- Use cases
- Main operation/service
- Ownership / Governance
- Organisations involved
- Maturity level
The platform’s development was based on the methodology for categorisation and assessment of existing skills and educational data initiatives.
? How to use the inventory?
The Online Inventory’s interface is very user-friendly with three interactive functions for users to access data:
- Discover: allows to browse and filter all initiatives in various categories
- Relationship: allows to see how everything is tied together and understand the relationship between different functionalities
- Analysis: allows to find overlaps and differences between different topics and initiatives
Add your project: new projects are recruited constantly with an online submission form.

The DS4Skills Online Inventory offers several benefits to tackle the lack of visibility and fragmentation of existing initiatives in the skills data space:
- The online inventory provides increased visibility for the initiatives by presenting them to a wider audience, including key stakeholders at the European level ➡️ This helps to ensure support for these initiatives and to take them into account for the design of the future European data space for skills.
- The online inventory serves as a connecting platform for showcasing projects and find related initiatives for collaboration ➡️ This helps to connect the members of these initiatives, serves as an inspiration for organizations to build their own, and encourages collaboration and innovation in the skills data space.
- The online inventory is open to the stakeholder’s community, allowing them to add relevant initiatives and further strengthen the ecosystem ➡️ This means the inventory will be maintained over time, ensuring that stakeholders have access to up-to-date information on the latest developments in the skills data domain.
